Sadly my husband was admitted to a Residential Care Home as a result of a deterioration of dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. He was self-funding, which owing to the huge fees was a massive financial burden and an increasing area of personal anxiety. I related these concerns to a friend who insisted I sought professional advice from Trudi, a financial consultant. I duly made an appointment with Trudi to discuss my financial concerns and affairs. I approached the meeting with both trepidation and emotional worry. However, from the outset the sympathy, empathy and humanity that she showed eased my mind considerably. I discussed my situation and it soon became apparent that she was an expert on all aspects of personal fiscal arrangements. This immediately relieved my apprehensions and she was able to alleviate some of the concerns I obviously had. She suggested excellent strategies regarding mine and my husband’s banking affairs. With her assistance and advice, I set about putting these ideas and interventions into place thus reducing one of the many major problems I had to deal with.

Unknown to me, my husband had been assessed by the Nurses Funded Care under the local CCG, and was denied CHC funding. We therefore had to pay for his care needs.

In December 2019 there was a review of my husband’s Care Funding instigated by CHC. Trudi had knowledge of this case and guided me through all the dealings I'd had in my fight for this second assessment of my husband’s care needs. The resulting case conference was in line with CHC policies and included members of all the professional medical agencies involved with my husband’s health care. Trudi volunteered to attend this meeting which lasted three hours. She volunteered not only to support me but also to increase her own expertise and knowledge which would be of benefit and assistance to other clients in the future. The meeting included high level discussions regarding the intricacies of the CHC criteria. It was obviously emotional for me to listen to health care professionals discussing the complex needs of my husband. However, Trudi’s attendance was invaluable to me on many levels and I was impressed that Trudi had voluntarily given up her valuable time to support me in this vital but difficult meeting.

She shared the good news when my husband was granted CHC funding and then spent considerable time and effort putting into place a package of support enabling me to make use of my financial assets.

Sadly, my husband died in April 2020. From then on the ongoing help I have received from Trudi has been incalculable. As probate was required, of which I had no knowledge, her expertise proved invaluable in guiding me through this process.

Without her impact at this very emotional time I would have been floundering. Her knowledge of the financial world, particularly in this sensitive area, is impressive and her attention to detail is exemplary showing outstanding levels of professional diligence. Her empathetic character and ability to explain complex issues establish a confidence that is vital for people suffering traumatic circumstances. She exhibits an ability to instil confidence, knowledge, kindness and humour. Based on my experiences with her I cannot think of a better person to steer a troubled person through complex life changing events.
